Malaysia offers different visa categories based on the purpose of your visit:

Tourist Visa (Single or Multiple Entry):

eVisa:

Business Visa:

Student Visa:

For studying at educational institutions in Malaysia.
Requires admission confirmation from a Malaysian institution.
Work Visa (Employment Pass):

Requires a work contract and approval from Malaysian immigration authorities.
Transit Visa:

For travelers passing through Malaysia to another destination.
Required if you are not visa-exempt and will leave the airport transit area.
2. Visa-Exempt Countries
Citizens of many countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and most European Union nations, can enter Malaysia visa-free for short stays (15–90 days, depending on nationality).

3. How to Apply for a Visa
eVisa Application:
Visit the official Malaysia eVisa portal (eVisa Malaysia).
Fill out the application form and upload the required documents.
Pay the visa fee online.
Receive your eVisa via email (processing usually takes 1–3 business days).
Embassy Visa Application:
Collect the required documents (see below).
Submit your application at the nearest Malaysian embassy or consulate.
Pay the visa fee (amount varies by nationality and visa type).
Wait for processing (typically 5–10 business days).
4. Required Documents
The documents required depend on the visa type, but generally include:

A completed visa application form.
A valid passport (with at least 6 months validity and blank pages).
Recent passport-sized photographs (meeting photo specifications).
Proof of travel itinerary (flight tickets).
Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or invitation letter from a host in Malaysia).
Bank statements or proof of financial capability to cover your stay.
Travel insurance (recommended for eVisa and mandatory for some types).
Supporting documents based on visa type:
For business: Invitation letter from a Malaysian company.

5. Processing Time
eVisa: Usually processed within 1–3 business days.
Embassy Visa: Typically takes 5–10 business days, but it may vary.
6. Key Notes
Extension of Stay: Short-stay visas can be extended under special circumstances by applying to the Malaysian Immigration Department.
Multiple Entry Visa: Ideal for frequent business travelers, valid for up to one year.
Transit Visa: Not required if you remain in the international transit area of Malaysian airports.
7. Special Note for Long-Term Visas
For long-term stays (e.g., work, study, or family reunification), additional approvals and documentation are required. Applications for these visas are processed through the Malaysian Immigration Department and require sponsorship by an employer, educational institution, or family member.
